Aer Lingus Regional adds 50 extra UK flights including new route to Newcastle

The airline also announced the addition of 10,000 seats to London Southend due to increased popularity with the route.

AER LINGUS REGIONAL today announced that they will be adding an additional 100,000 seats for winter, 50 flights per week and a new route from Dublin to Newcastle Airport.

There will also be increase of 10 per cent to services in Cork.

The 50 extra weekly flights will be added on Aer Lingus Regional services from Dublin to Aberdeen, Bristol, Cardiff and Glasgow, with another eight weekly flights added from Cork to Birmingham and Manchester.

New route

The new route to Newcastle will operate two daily return flights from Dublin.

Aer Arann’s Chief Commercial Officer, Simon Fagan said that the addition of Newcastle to the network and extra flights to Aberdeen, Bristol, Cardiff, Glasgow, Birmingham and Manchester, is the next step in the growth plan of AerArann which will provide further options for passengers flying to the UK.

The airline also announced that they would be adding 10,000 additional seats to London Southend.

The airlines new aircrafts will operate flights to the London Southend, with Aer Arann ordering eight new aircrafts earlier this year as part of a €144 million deal with ATR, the world’s largest manufacturer of regional aircraft.

Mr Fagan added:

We recently welcomed the government’s announcement of the removal of the travel tax from April 2014 which will help Aer Arann grow its network further and reach its goal of  carrying 1.4 million passengers by 2014.
