Aer Lingus sees 12 per cent traffic boost in April

The airline puts it down to a later Easter than normal and more long-haul flights.

AER LINGUS SAW a boost in the total number of passengers flying with the airline last month.

Figures published this morning puts total passenger traffic at 974,000, up 12.2 per cent compared to the same period the year previous.

The airline puts this increase in traffic down to the Easter bank holiday weekend taking place later than normal, with long-haul numbers being boosted by the introduction of flights to San Francisco and Toronto.

Almost 35 per cent more passengers flew with Aer Lingus Regional scheduled services last month compared to year previous.

Passenger numbers increased more than 177,000 compared to March 2014, with an improvement also seen in load factor.

Sone good news for the airline. Over 100,000 people from Britain travelled to the US via Dublin in 2013. This is expected to grow this year.

They do, its just the under-performance of the fund that is the problem……but the unions will turn the screw to get extra goodies out of the company despite the fact that the very same union is changing their internal pension scheme for the very same reason….without their staff threatening strike action, I might add.

Tinker Taylor while I admire your analysis just one minor detail I would like to add that in order to get a job in Aer Lingus it was compulsory that you join the pension scheme

Good for Aer Lingus. Unfortunately another legacy union is threatening summer strikes. Ryan Air must be laughing at the situation. Unfortunately I have a flight booked with Aer Lingus in July…..first time in a decade. I wont make the same mistake next year…. Its Ryan Air from now on…
