AER LINGUS HAS said that passenger numbers fell year-on-year by 1.5 per cent last month citing the shorter month as a result of 2012 being a leap year.
Total flown passenger numbers were 648,000 in February of this year, down from February 2012 when there were 29 days in the month as opposed to 28 this year.
In the first two months of this year Aer Lingus has flown 1,286,000 passengers, up one per cent from the same period last year.
Short haul flown passengers last month were 532,000, a fall of 3.9 per cent from the same time last year. Short haul capacity in the month decreased by nearly 10 per cent.
Long haul passengers numbers dropped by 4.4 per cent to 43,000 with capacity in the sector down by 3.5 per cent.
