One-fifth more long haul passengers for Aer Lingus last month

The airline’s latest passeger load figures show that over 6 million people flew with Aer Lingus in the first seven months of this year.

THE NUMBER OF people flying with Aer Lingus last month was 6.2% higher than last year at 1.212 million passengers.

So far this year, 6.446 million people travelled with the airline – up 3.9% on the same period of 2013.

The latest passenger figures for the Irish airline also show that long haul flights showed the highest passenger increase, rising 22.4% from 115,000 to 142,000. Short haul passengers increased 2.1% to 928,000 on July 2013.

Overall passenger load factor for the month remained steady at 87.9% in July 2014 (compared with 87.3% last year)

The airline recently released its half-year report showing total revenues up 6% to €697.2m. CEO Christoph Mueller said that the airline expects full year 2014 operating profit to at least be in line with 2013 levels.
